800km through Northern Ontario's ultimate winter wilderness
We focus on a different, more relaxed Moosonee – James Bay Snowmobile Tour. Compared with other tours being offered, we have more time to experience the far north.
Our cozy accommodations allow more time with your friends, and our home-cooked meals are one of the best parts of the trip! We offer a four-day, five-night FOUR STAR snowmobile tour to James Bay that caters to intermediate and experienced riders.
Do you wish to take on an epic adventure snowmobiling to Moosonee and the James Bay Coast, while also having the best service, accommodations, food, and drink? This is your tour.
A more relaxed pace with home-cooked meals and cozy accommodations
You'll arrive in Cochrane and check into your hotel room. Our tour group meets for dinner at a local restaurant where you'll meet your guide and fellow riders. This is your chance to get to know the group and discuss the adventure ahead.
Ride the legendary OFSC Abitibi Canyon trail to the Historic Fraserdale Hydroelectric Dam. Meet up with your guide for refueling and a warm trailside lunch with beverages. Then embark on the 250km off-trail portion - whatever mother nature throws at us! Fast or slow, it all depends on conditions. 400km later, you'll be ripping down the MASSIVE Moose River into Moosonee.
Arrive at our accommodations - a fully furnished, clean and modern home rented for two nights. All agreed-upon snacks, beverages, and meals await! Tonight we relax and let loose. Lasagna and pasta dinner prepared for you to eat at your leisure. This is your night to enjoy a few extra drinks and stay up late with new friends!
Sleep in and rest up! Wake early if you want to visit the town. Fresh Ethiopian Arabica coffee ready to brew. Free time in the morning - but be back for brunch! Around 11am, cooks arrive to prepare the big breakfast: bacon, eggs, home fries, waffles, French toast, pancakes with maple syrup - whatever we've planned!
Around 2PM, ride out through the Moose River Delta, into the tundra, onto James Bay! If conditions, weather, and ocean tides allow, ride way out toward the edge of the Ocean Waters. Witness the humbling power of nature and massive ice piles formed where Arctic salt water tides meet the freshwater Arctic watershed. Looking north from here, the next shoreline is over 2000km away through Hudson's Bay to the Arctic waters of Igloolik!
Return from James Bay around 6PM, refuel sleds, and head back to the house where cooks are waiting. This is STEAK DINNER NIGHT! Inch-thick custom-cut rib eye steaks on the BBQ, roasted potatoes, corn, French-style green beans, and cheesy broccoli. The perfect celebration of reaching James Bay!
Wake by 8am. Cooks arrive at 7am to prepare breakfast: custom-cooked eggs, bacon, sausage, and leftovers from yesterday. Around 9am, begin the journey back to Cochrane. 250km later (around 1PM), arrive at Abitibi Canyon where hot soup, sausage on a bun, and fuel await. Back in Cochrane by 7PM.
Exhausted but exhilarated! Meet at 8PM for supper (pizza or restaurant - group decision, your expense). Time to say goodbye to new friends and exchange contact info. Day 5: Everyone drives home with incredible memories!
